indie rock nice enough to take home to mom

the RSVP ep
2006 EP -- 9 to 1 Records

Sorry's third album. More harmonies and melodic poppiness, but the overall feeling is moodier. The songs rush less and breathe more, and the themes sound more reflective than tongue-in-cheek -- childhood memories, the state of love mid-marriage, the dreariness of office worklife. Get it today!

Track listing:

nuevo laredo
autobiography
bicycle
set sail
lied like the rug
act your age

It Pays to Pay Attention
2006 LP -- 9 to 1 Records

Sorry's 2006 follow-up to its critically acclaimed* Non-winner EP. This one's a beauty, with lots of pa-pa-pa's and ooo's mixed in with tasty bits of distortion and tight harmonies.

Track listing:

televangelist
the engineer at home
orange balloon
drive
heart like a holiday
wedding guest
tomorrow i'll be brave
cadence
why advertising works
telescopes

Reviews

Let it be known that I dig this record a lot. You have contributed to the world a 1.2 mm thick polycarbonate disc that is truly a pleasant pop experience. To my ears they sound like a band raised on equal parts powerpop (the Posies, Teenage Fanclub) and indiepop (Versus, True Love Always, the Lucksmiths). All and all, Sorry is melodic and harmony driven and really darn good. Consider me your new champion.

I was crazy about their last EP, "Non-Winner", and have also seen a number of these songs performed live, so I already knew I would love this record ... beautifully written

good songs with some great promise

Somehow they manage to pay homage to the Stone Roses and to the Beatles while still sounding fresh and new. It adds a new dimension to music coming out of the Seattle area ... I love this CD!
